Frequently Asked Questions
-
We believe in full financial transparency so you know exactly what to expect before starting.
Both in-person and Telehealth (online) sessions are charged at the same rate.
Session Fees
Standard Consultation (50 minutes): $300
For context, the Australian Psychological Society (APS) recommended fee for a standard 46–60 minute consultation is $330.
Medicare Rebates
If you have a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) and a referral from your GP, you are eligible for a Medicare rebate on the defined set of sessions.
Medicare Rebate (Clinical Psychologist): $149.05 per session
Out-of-Pocket Cost (Gap Fee): $150.95 per session
We can process your rebate directly to Medicare after your session, which is usually deposited into your nominated bank account within 24 to 48 hours.
Private Health Insurance
If you have private health insurance with extras coverage for psychology, you may be eligible for a rebate.
Reclaim amounts vary depending on your insurer and level of cover.
Please contact your health fund directly to confirm your specific coverage details.
Note: You cannot claim both a Medicare rebate and a Private Health rebate for the same session.

We understand that life happens—sickness, family emergencies, and unexpected events are a normal part of life. If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, we kindly ask for as much notice as possible so we can offer that time to someone on our waiting list. We know genuine emergencies happen. Unforeseen events will always be handled with empathy, common sense, and flexibility on a case-by-case basis.
Notice Periods & Fees
More than 48 hours’ notice: No cancellation fee applies.
24 to 48 hours’ notice: A partial cancellation fee applies (50% of the session fee).
Less than 24 hours’ notice or missed sessions: The full session fee applies.
Why do we have a cancellation policy?
When you book a session, that time is reserved exclusively for you. Unlike a standard medical clinic where appointments are brief and quick to fill, a 50-minute therapy session requires dedicated time and preparation. Late cancellations mean another client in need misses out on support, and it directly impacts the sustainability of our practice.
A Note on Medicare & Health Insurance Rebates
Please note that Medicare rebates and private health insurance benefits only apply to sessions that actually take place. Cancellation fees cannot be claimed through Medicare or private health funds and must be paid fully out-of-pocket.

School & Multidisciplinary Meetings: Attendance at case conferences, care team meetings, or school consultations (in person or online).
Comprehensive Reports & Written Correspondence: Formal reports for providers, school accommodations, or medical specialists.
How Fees for Additional Services Work
Pro-Rata Rate: Non-session services (such as report writing, extensive correspondence, or attendance at meetings) are charged pro-rata based on our standard rate of $300 per hour.
Transparency First: We will always discuss and agree upon any costs with you before undertaking written work or attending meetings so there are never any unexpected fees.
Brief Administrative Updates: Short, routine communications (under 10–15 minutes) are included as part of your ongoing care and are not billed.
Please Note: Grevillea Grove Psychology provides clinical therapeutic support and does not offer medicolegal assessments, court assessments, or reporting for Family Court proceedings.
